Warbirds Over Scone returns in March 2026 with one of the largest gatherings of historic warbirds in the Southern Hemisphere. Set against the beautiful Hunter Valley and its pristine wine country, this two‑day aviation spectacle combines a must-see aircraft lineup with a vibrant on‑ground festival - perfect for enthusiasts, families, and wine‑country weekenders alike.
Expect a blockbuster flying program including Australia’s largest gathering of Supermarine Spitfires since WWII, backed by multiple P-51/CA-18 Mustangs, multiple P-40 Kittyhawks, and the world’s only flying F4U-1D Corsair. Add Australia’s only de Havilland T55 Vampire and Hawker Sea Fury “Southern Cross”, plus crowd-favourites like the BAC Strikemaster, Grumman Avenger, T-28 Trojans, Pilatus PC-9, T-6 Harvard and CAC Wirraway - all tied together by world-class aerobatic displays from Paul Bennet Airshows (solos and the Sky Aces formation team).
On the ground and in the air you’ll also spot gorgeous classics like Tiger Moths, Boeing Stearman and a stunning WWI era Bristol F.2B and a serious static lineup of ex-mil fighter jets on display (MB-326, Mirage IIIO, MiG-17F, Hawker Hunter). Fancy a taste of it yourself? Strap into a Yakovlev Yak-52 for an aerobatic adventure flight at the show.
On the ground, Warbirds Over Scone boasts a bustling regional festival with plenty to experience in between the aviation action. The Hunter Warbirds museum opens its doors, there are helicopter and aerobatic adventure flights available across the weekend, military and show cars, market stalls and plenty of great food and coffee. Families are also well catered for with a Kids Zone, roving entertainment, clear commentary and plenty of space to spread out.
The weekend rhythm is relaxed and easy to plan around. Gates typically open from 9:00am, with flying scheduled from late morning through the afternoon, giving you time to explore the museum, meet exhibitors and settle in with your fold-up chair or picnic rug before the first flight begins. Displays roll from one highlight to the next: the roar of radial engines, the whistle of early-era jets, stunning formations, incredible aerobatics and the unmistakable growl of the Merlin V12. Between displays, use the breaks to grab a bite to eat, watch a start-up on the flight-line or snap a few photos of your favourite warbird.
And because Scone sits at the northern gateway to the Hunter Valley, lots of visitors turn the show into a long-weekend escape. Stay local in Scone or nearby Upper Hunter towns like Aberdeen, Muswellbrook and Denman, or base yourself among the vines in Pokolbin/Cessnock and day-trip to the airshow. Think cellar-door tastings, country pubs and paddock-to-plate dinners before or after a day out at the airshow - it’s an easy pairing and a big part of the event’s charm.
Whether you’re chasing the sound of a Merlin at full song, introducing the kids to their first airshow, or adding another top-tier event to your aviation calendar, Warbirds Over Scone 2026 delivers a world-class flying program and a welcoming festival atmosphere in one of Australia’s favourite country settings. Tickets, program updates and add-on experiences are available via the official event site.Aircraft highlights*
