Whyalla is celebrating the upgrading of its airport with an open day on Saturday, October 29.

Admission is free and the event will kick off at 12 noon when the immense Grumman Avenger WWII bomber flies low over the Whyalla foreshore. Activities at the airport begin at 1pm where you'll be able to see the Avenger, Wolf Pitts Pro and Edge 540 on the ground and in the air. Paul Bennet and Glenn Graham will also be showing off their world-leading aerobatics manoeuvres, with food stalls and helicopter joyrides also taking place on throughout the afternoon.
